Jennifer: Would you
explain what The Gospel Coalition actually is, and how Roosevelt Community
Church fits in?
Vermon: Well, a full definition of The Gospel
Coalition can be found at http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/about/overview. But the short version is that it is a
broad network of churches founded by D.A. Carson and Tim Keller that seeks to
encourage and equip churches for gospel-centered ministry.
Roosevelt
Community Church is part of the Arizona chapter of The Gospel Coalition, and I
serve on the steering committee for the Arizona chapter.
Jennifer: What is it that you actually wrote? Would you provide the link?
Vermon: I am the author and
presenter of Gospel Shaped Living, the third
installment in The Gospel Shaped Church curriculum, which is published by The
Good Book Company and The Gospel Coalition. Essentially, I wrote seven chapters
that were then turned into a set of resources, including a DVD (which features
teaching by myself), a leader’s guide, and a member handbook.
Jennifer: Who's the audience
for this publication?
Vermon: The curriculum is
meant for churches and, in particular, for use in small group or Sunday School
settings. It can also be used for personal study or sermon series.
Jennifer: Do you foresee more writing projects?
Jennifer: Do you foresee more writing projects?
Vermon: Yes. I have another
smaller thing coming out next month—a chapter I wrote for an e-book called Revisiting ‘Faithful Presence’: To Change
the World Five Years Later.
